About the Position: M-F, 0730-1630 hours, within the Military Treatment Facility. Working within a multi-disciplinary team and as an individual psychotherapist. Actively engaging with patient care, creating treatment plans, while adhering to military standards. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Advance leave accrual may be authorized.

Duties

Working within a multi-disciplinary team and as an individual psychotherapist. Actively engaging with patient care, creating treatment plans, while adhering to military standards. Continued education on the most up-to-date evidence-based modalities for best treatment outcomes of patient needs. Serves as the installation clinical social work subject matter expert (SME). Conducts intake evaluations and psycho-diagnostic assessments. Conducts comprehensive psycho-diagnostic evaluations to address complex (interrelated biopsychosocial) diagnostic and treatment issues. Provides evidence-based psychotherapy for a wide variety of complex psychiatric/social problems. Establishes treatment plans, annotates adjustments to treatment plans as required over the course of therapy. Provides psychological consultation, education, and training to other mental health professionals, medical staff, military commanders/senior leaders, and other DoD and civilian providers. Provides unit and command consultation, leadership development and performance enhancement.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands.
  • Practice will require clinical privileges at the host MTF. MUST maintain active clinical privileges for the duration of employment. Must sustain current competency to practice at the independent level.
  • Must have practiced as an independent licensed clinical social worker within past two years.
  • Government civilian providers must meet all applicable credentialing requirements IAW local military treatment facility guidelines and be fully qualified to perform within the scope of their practice.
  • Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Incumbent may share on-call duty during weeknights and/or weekends on a rotational basis as required consistent with other mental health professionals performing like duties.
  • Completion of appropriate clinical and administrative duties may involve “after hours” care or work in addition to regular clinic hours.
  • Work may occasionally require employee to travel to unit locations to provide in-garrison support to service members.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience: exercising professional judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills; plan, coordinate, and provide intensive social work services; experience in providing care to individuals with traumatic brain injuries, PTSD, and anxiety disorders; diagnose and develop treatment plans for the social well-being of individuals; and experience treating cases of a wide range of psychosocial issues without limitations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
