About the Position: The incumbent of this position will work as the Deputy Chief, Psychological Health Center of Excellence for Defense Health Agency Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Oversees high-level research and program initiatives, as assigned by the Division Chief, and clears, amends or provides recommendations for change on activities and products produced in coordination with the Division Chief. Responsible for the development of policies, programs, and applications, knowledge of the integrated process from theory to application from research to training and treatment. Serves as definitive expert consultant for psychological health. Participates with supervisor in reviews and recommends improvements in work methods, organizational design, and position structure to eliminate unnecessary positions and to achieve optimum content in those remaining.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a determination eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• This position allows both situation and, after a period of probation, recurring telework.

Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist GS-0180-15: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, assisting with reviewing clinical practices, developing evidence-based treatments and clinical support tools to improve psychological health, reviewing and interpreting regulations, and overseeing or mentoring employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
