This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA - Domestic DIB & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Perform final and in-progress calibration and measurement inspections. Review drawings on gages, jigs, and fixtures for correlation of design function and mathematical computations with component drawings. Conduct certification on final acceptance and in-process gages, jigs, fixtures, and measuring equipment. Prepare and update gage record cards. Determine accuracy of items, prepare and update gage record cards and initiate/maintain all applicable and required reports. Use a variety of hand tools to clean, deburr, align, or otherwise repair gages, jigs, and fixtures related to the calibration of measuring gages. Follow shop practice, environmental, and safety regulations.

  • Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION CALIBRATION AND MEASUREMENT INSPECTOR ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common duties of repairing test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), interpreting schematics, and applying electronic theories in collecting measurement data. Assist in the use of instrument application and calibration requirements for equipment. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
