This position is with the Division of Quality Management, Safety Management Branch at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, New Mexico. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager planning and implements a comprehensive program for environmental and occupational health management, emergency management, incident command, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration program management for the hospital and satellite clinics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Managing safety or occupational health program elements. Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements. Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards. Designing or modifying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems to control or eliminate hazards. Training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects.
Note: Registration, certification, or licensure from a nationally recognized or other appropriate credentialing body as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) is highly desirable.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
