Duties

The selectee will serve as a Data Scientist (Insider Threat) in the Office of Professional Responsibility (RES). Typical work assignments include: Collaborating with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in building, developing, and maintaining data models, reporting systems, data automation, and dashboards that utilize multiple sources of data. Developing data analysis and storage routines to standardize and facilitate the management of electronic records. Performing data driven operations, analysis, and program management tasks. Writing and orally communicating the principles, methods, and techniques, related to Insider Threat program policies, procedures, and data management.

Basic Requirement: You have a degree in Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position (The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position) OR You have a combination of education and experience: Courses to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as previously mentioned, plus additional education or appropriate experience. In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, you must also meet the following minimum qualification requirements. AND Minimum Qualifications: You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $117,962.00) if you possess one of the following: GS-13: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Making recommendations on security systems designed to protect personnel, equipment and facilities based on trend analysis data collected over a period of time; Utilizing knowledge of data gathering methods to assist with assessing various areas of insider threats; Normalizing data to conduct analysis and evaluations based on the correlation of information; and Working with statistical software such as R, Python, Tableau or Power BI to assist with trend analysis and graphing for reports.
