This position is located within the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) of National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Duties
If selected you may perform the following duties:
Develop, propose, and implement innovative business and commercial development strategies for licensing and/or partnerships of technology and inventions.
Identify and evaluate potentially patentable inventions.
Recommend domestic and foreign patent filing strategies in compliance with policies and procedures.
Develop and implement marketing plans to identify prospective industry development partners.
Negotiate contracts including material transfer agreements, confidentiality agreements, collaboration agreements, and license agreements.
Educate and trains scientific and administrative staff about technology transfer issues.
Requirements

Qualifications
Education Requirements
In order to qualify for a Technology Transfer and Patent Specialist GS-0601 position, you must have completed a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or graduate higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition, to qualify for a Technology Transfer and Patent Specialist GS-0601 position at the GS-12 level, you must have: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: responding to inquiries regarding the legal and regulatory requirements related to technology transfer agreements, patents, or inventions; reviewing technology transfer agreements for sufficiency regarding methods and techniques, justifications, and similar matters; reviewing reports of technology transfer agreements to determine adherence to performance measures; participating in negotiating and executing technology transfer agreements for an organization.
