The Nurse (Maternal Child Care) position is located in the Nursing Department at Crow Service Unit. Primary work area will be the Crow/Northern Cheyenne Hospital but travel to Lodge Grass and Pryor clinics may be required. The purpose of this position is to provide nursing care coordination to women of child bearing age to include pregnant women, those who are planning a family, infants up to the age of 1 year and other children with chronic medical conditions or at risk.

Duties

Ensure Patients are routed to appropriate service, assisting patient with health literacy and serving as their advocate. Responsible for coordinating care with other departments programs. Provide nursing care of maternal child nursing patients. Development and implementation of programs intended to improve outcome to include breastfeeding education, childbirth education, and care of the newborn. Follow up with Maternal Child Health patients to ensure appointments are kept, improve adequacy of prenatal care and tracking patients seen by obstetric providers. Awareness of the community and the culture required to ensure delivery of culturally competent care. Plan and participate in Programs for High Risk Prenatal Management and Primary Prevention Services and tracks patient data outcomes. Assist with procedures, assessment of unscheduled patients and recommending disposition and participation in group education and group medical visits.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Nurse Series 0610 (opm.gov) In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Develop individualized care plans or participate in patient care planning. Interview patients and family members; consult with attending physicians. Review and interpret findings to distinguish between normal and abnormal conditions. Carry out treatment and emergency or other procedures required. Provide guidance, direction, and training to ancillary nursing and other personnel. Provide counseling and teaching to patients and families on preventive, curative, and rehabilitation measures regarding health care. Time in Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only) Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
