Duties
Serves as an Inmate Classification & Computation Technician located within the Designations and Sentence Computation Center (DSCC) for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Responsible for Judgment & Commitment files, sentence computations, release audits of computations, computation case audits, security and control of records, and initial inmate classifications for designations. Collects all necessary information from the US District Court, US Marshal Service and US Probation Office, or other authorities needed to request and provide designation and compute inmates’ sentences. Serves as a subject matter expert, assisting institution staff with responses to questions and interpretations of status and case law within their respective field.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education:As a general rule, education is not creditable above GL-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of the qualifying specialized experience are:
Experience initiating and composing standardized legal documents routinely needed for legal actions.
Experience establishing, maintaining or closing case files or systems of legal records and abstracting data from files and records.
Experience with the security and control of records, verifying authenticity of court orders, and parole actions.
If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
