This is a public notice flyer to notify applicants of anticipated vacancies through the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base in the DoD. Duties

You will operate air blast cabinets, booths, portable units and blast media recovery equipment to remove paint, tar, scale and other organic coatings from engine component, landing gear, ordnance, avionics, and other aircraft components. You will prepare parts for specialty coatings, such as paint, aluminized coatings, chrome, nickel, silver, and cadmium coatings, as well as the various sprayed on metallized coatings. You will remove paint, scale, rust, corrosion and other surface imperfections from iron, steel, aluminum, composite and other metal and non-metal surfaces. You will prepare surface areas for painting by blasting, grinding, sanding, scraping, wire-brushing, etc.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Knowledge of sandblasting procedures and dry and wet blasting compounds for aircraft components, engine components, landing gear, and other numerous components; 2) Operating air blast cabinets, booths, portable units and blast media recovery equipment to remove paint, tar, scale and other organic coatings from large, small and intricate or unusually shaped engine components, landing gear, ordnance, avionics, and other aircraft components; 3) Knowledge of cleaning characteristics of brass, corrosion resistant steel, aluminum, iron, steel, and other metals and nonmetals; and 4) Respond to and apply oral or written sandblasting instructions, technical orders, specifications, shop manuals, and safety rules.
