This position has a SEASONAL, full-time work schedule. The incumbent's services will be required primarily during the research field season starting in February and ending in September or October of each year. At the end of the work period, the incumbent will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status. It is expected that the incumbent will work at least 6 months Seasonal Work Schedule from Approximately Mid-March to late October or early November per year, but no more than 50 weeks or 25 pay periods on a full-time basis.

Qualification Requirements:
There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the basic work of the position without more than normal supervision through experience shown in the written resume and responses to the job-related task statements in this announcement. To be basically qualified for this position applicants must meet the identified screen-out element below.
Screen-Out Element:
Without more than normal supervision, I am able to perform the duties of this position including: Possess, at a minimum, a current U.S. Coast Guard Master 100-ton (near coastal or oceans) license and the ability to independently operate and maintain a 50' scientific research vessel on inland and near-coastal waters without returning to port for up to 3 weeks at a time, using hydraulic winches to lift and deploy scientific research equipment such as small boats, trawl nets, and hydroacoustic sleds.
The incumbent may be required to work extensive amounts of overtime during each research trip.
