About the Position: This position serves as a Physical Science Technician for the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity located in Pueblo, Colorado.
Duties
Serve as the Records Coordinator for the purpose of monitoring quality control program.
Use chemistry practices to analyze chemical data collected.
Compile data collected from the multiple sources of measurements and observations and analyze the results.
Participate in quality control programs to ensure accuracy, precision and validity of work.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require temporary duty travel up to 5% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
- This position may require working weekends and/or a work schedule that includes weekends.
- Incumbent is responsible for the proper handling of specific hazardous wastes generated by the unit, activity or facility; operation of a hazardous waste generation point, and assisting in emergency action involving hazardous waste.
- Incumbent must meet the requirement of the PCD Site-Specific Laboratory Quality Control Plan (SSLQP) and the Hazardous Waste Management procedures within six (6) months after date of appointment to the position.
- Incumbent must complete PCD Site-Specific Laboratory Quality Control Plan (SSLQP) and the Hazardous Waste Management annual review training.
- Incumbent will successfully complete an initial program of classroom or on the job training covering hazardous waste management as well as annual renewal training.
- Incumbent is subject to recall at all times to respond to an actual release of toxic agents to the atmosphere.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of demonstrated experience which includes 1.) Applying technical principles in order to conduct, monitor and coordinate various phases physical science operations; 2.) Preparing technical records to be used as data collection; AND, 3.) Performing chemical testing to evaluate the reliability of the results obtained. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Masters of Science. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
