Duties
You will modify and repair existing pipefitting installations according to provided specifications or instructions.
You will determine the extent of repairs required for piping systems or equipment.
You will calculate pipe, joint, or valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems.
You will inspect and test systems for damage, leaks, and blockages in lines, expansion joints, valves and traps.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This is a regionalized command and the incumbent may at any time be reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
- May be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
- May be required to serve on-call duty on a rotational basis- carrying a duty cell phone and duty pager and remaining available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Pipefitter without more than normal supervision performing common tasks including: (1) Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as, steam-heating, hydraulic systems, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum systems, radiators and circulating pumps; (2) Working from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion and operation of various piping systems and equipment; and (3) Independently selecting tools and testing equipment to use for building, repairing, troubleshooting, or modernizing the following systems: steam and condensate distribution systems, hydrant and fire mains, water distribution systems , heating and control units, and plumbing systems.
