Duties

You will function as an Information Systems Integration Specialist providing technical planning, analysis, design, testing, configuration, integration, maintenance, and management of the IT systems. You will design and implement operational methods to enhance current business processes which improve productivity, efficiency, and reduce operational costs. You will advise others as the technical expert and Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for ensuring the integration of all systems components, procedures, policies, software, and hardware are aligned to support the mission. You will work as an integral member with internal and external customers and Information Technology (IT) system administrators to resolve technical problems and to enhance system availability. You will develop and coordinate activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities to ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Systems Admin, Intermediate level, within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

FOR GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-09 or equivalent, in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience performing information technology (IT) related functions to support information systems administration, security or information assurance requirements of IT systems, networks and data. Your experience in the information technology field will have equipped you with skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: monitoring and evaluating systems compliance with IT security requirements. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: working with customers to determine requirements or problems; reviewing IT systems to recommend security enhancements to protect customer's information assets. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: providing advice or guidance in implementing IT security policies or procedures to customers or management. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: identifying or isolating IT security system problems and recommending solutions or correcting problems. Education

In lieu of experience, education may be substituted if one or more of the following are met:

- successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

OR

- successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
