This position is in Region 10, Mission Support Division, Information Services Branch, Information Management Selection. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have either: -IT-related experience demonstrating each of these four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations; OR -a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. In addition to the basic requirements above, you must meet the following requirements: To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as experience utilizing geographical information systems (GIS) analysis software to collect, model and analyze research data. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Skill in applying GIS data management concepts and techniques. Knowledge of the enterprise IT infrastructure and the interrelationships among multiple IT specialties. Skill in using standard data gathering and analysis techniques to collect and review technical information on environmental activities and identify and solve complex problems. Knowledge sufficient to assess and correlate environmental data, verify results and discuss technical aspects of work. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
