This position is located in the US National Poultry Research Center, Agricultural Research Services, Southeast Area, Athens, GA In this position, you will support and maintain the location's financial management activities which involves numerous accounting codes and subaccounts in the current research information system.

Duties

Reviews expenditure information for numerous reimbursable agreements and ensures billings and collections are realized. Receives and reviews obligating documents such as purchase orders, travel vouchers, requisitions, and contract documents and reviews for accounting code information, making appropriate corrections where required. Uses an automated tracking system (Salary Management System) to track salary costs and hours worked, by employee, by pay period, for the entire fiscal year. Reviews, analyzes, and prepares budgetary data and estimates for location fund holders and AO for annual budget preparation documents, based on historical data and recurring costs.

The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience performing budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data; preparing or forecasting cost estimates or budgetary data; and operating accounting or financial systems. GS-7: Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience preparing financial reports or salary reports; analyzing implications on the reports of overall budgets; and making recommendations to the fundholder. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
