This position is located in the Northeast Archeological Resources Program of the Cultural Resource Division of the Interior Region 1.
This position is TEMPORARY seasonal not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year.

Duties
As an Archeological Technician, GS-0102-07 with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/19/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing tasks involved in conducting archeological field surveys; searching for archeological features and artifacts and recording survey results through field notes, site maps, or photographs; conducting supervised excavation and testing of archeological sites; utilizing tools and equipment common to archeological functions (e.g., topographic maps and other archeological survey tools)
OR
One full year of graduate education in a related field such as: Historical or Precolonial Archeology, Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Geoarchaeology, History, or Historic Preservation.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Must reflect work schedule as full-time and/or part-time and the total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time or part-time).
3. If part-time, (the number of hours worked must be indicated) and will be pro-rated to determine the amount of qualified specialized experience.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. You will not receive credit for experience that does not indicate the exact hours worked per week or is listed as "varies." Please ensure your resume/employment history includes all the information listed above.
Failure to adequately provide the information stated above will result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must possess one full year of graduate education in a related field such as: Historical or Precolonial Archeology, Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Geoarchaeology, History, or Historic Preservation.
You must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
