You will serve as a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER in the Installation Security Department of SUBASE NEW LONDON SECURITY DETACHMENT.
Duties
You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on weapons, protective equipment, and law enforcement related equipment.
You will issue and maintain weapons and personal protective equipment to security and law enforcement personnel.
You will ensure all weapons and ammunition are accounted for and required inventories executed within specified period.
You will ensure all required standard operating procedures and applicable instructions for the armory remain current.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Must gain access to NAVSEA PMS scheduling application and use this application to schedule preventive maintenance/document accomplishment of preventive maintenance.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Disassembling, cleaning, and performing maintenance on small arms such as revolvers, automatic pistols, shot guns and rifles; and 2) Assembling small arms in accordance with instructions and manuals; 3) Manually operating small arm assemblies to check for proper action/operation.
