This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Fort Randall Project is located in south central South Dakota in a rural area along the Missouri River. The duty station is near Pickstown, SD. The majority of our staff live within 15 miles of the Project office in the communities of Pickstown, Wagner or Lake Andes.

Duties

Incumbent conducts on-site investigations and inspections in connection with proposed or completed improvements or modifications of mechanical, electrical, or civil features; takes measurements, makes sketches, and assembles pertinent technical data. Coordinates with staff engineers and maintenance personnel to resolve complicated issues. Uses complex Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) applications to revise original contract drawings and provide accurate up-to-date project drawings while ensuring version control and organization of files. Provides technical support, coordination, and assistance to various work groups ensuring equipment and materials are installed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. Assures drawings are compatible as the new drawings are prepared and integrated with the old/existing drawings.

Specialized Experience for GS-07:In-Service Applicant (current or former Federal employee): One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawing: AND 2). Experience estimating equipment and materials for various work groups based on direction given. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Outside Applicant (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service): One year of specialized experience which includes: 1). Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawing: AND 2). Experience estimating equipment and materials for various work groups based on direction given. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Experience interpreting and preparing engineering drawings utilizing drafting software based on written or verbal direction; AND 2). Experience researching costs and recommending equipment and materials for various work groups based on information provided. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for GS-09:In-Service Applicant (current or former Federal employee): One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Experience reading, interpreting, and preparing engineering drawings based on field investigations; AND 2). Experience using complex Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) applications to update drawings based on redlines provided through sketches, as-builts, redlined documents, or verbal descriptions provided by staff engineers or maintenance personnel; AND 3). Experience researching, estimating, recommending, and procuring equipment & materials for various work groups based on personal investigations This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Outside Applicant (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service) One year of specialized experience which includes: 1). Experience reading, interpreting, and preparing engineering drawings based on field investigations; AND 2). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
