Employee will serve as a Civilian Pay Technician located at the Veterans Healthcare System in Battle Creek, MI.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Performs clerical and technical work in support of the full spectrum of payroll functions.
Determines pay, maintains payroll records on all employees, and prepares related payroll reports.
Makes pay adjustments which may involve transfers between pay systems differing in pay, leave, and benefit entitlements.
Handles written and verbal inquiries from employees and supervisors concerning pay and leave issues.
Determines the completeness, accuracy, consistency, and propriety of pay actions and ensures they are made in accordance with pay scales, rules and regulations, and instructions.
Audits and reconciles time and attendance records and reports to assure accuracy of paid hours.
Analyzes reports against timecards to identify cause and corrective action needed to clear discrepancies.
Resolves payroll issues that affect employee's pay and leave.
Performs other duties as necessary.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes performing clerical and technical work in support of the full spectrum of payroll functions; determining pay, making adjustments to clear discrepancies, resolving pay issues, and maintaining employee payroll records; and responding to written and verbal requests from employees and supervisors regarding payroll. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is mainly sedentary; however, there is some walking, bending, lifting and carrying of light objects.

Education
