THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, Position Description Number D1288000 and is part of the CO MATES 64, National Guard. The purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader of three or more Surface Maintenance Mechanics, WG-5801-11.

Duties

Leader Duties: Assigns work orders to specific crew members and selects workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Assures that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy. Non-Supervisory Duties: Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoots equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools. Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations. Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs electrical repairs on complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems requiring extensive training on specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems. Assists in the maintenance of production reports and records, and makes recommendations to the supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Open to members of the Colorado Army National Guard.
• Must hold the grade of E-5 thru E-7.
• Submit all required documentation.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-5 thru E-7 1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. 2. An applicants RESUME must provide, in detail, how they meet each specialized experience listed below. 3. It must be documented with "from (mm/yy)" and "to (mm/yy)" dates and description of the specialized experience. DO NOT copy each bullet listed below word for word and place into your resume; you must describe your personal experience as it pertains to each bullet. You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include specialized experience in your resume. Must have at least 24 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following: 1. Experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. 2. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. 3. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. 4. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems. 5. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. 6. Experience performing administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. 7. Experience providing guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.

Education

Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
