Duties
This is a temporary assignment or promotion not-to-exceed one year; may be extended, may become permanent.
This position is with the Office of Inspector General, Financial Management Division. This office is responsible for the management of budget formulation and execution, including preparation of budget estimates and budget justifications, development of support materials for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Congressional hearings. As a Budget Analyst at OIG, you will be making a contribution in supporting the financial management of the Office which has a major impact on OIG goals and missions.
Major duties include:
Formulates, coordinates, prepares, and presents budget estimates and justifications in support of audits, investigations, and administrative activities.
Explains or defends OIG budget proposals and responds to data calls from the Departmental Budget Office or the Office of Management and Budget (OMB);
Prepares budget execution projections plans and reports; monitors and analyzes program operations; proposes reallocations; and suggests improvements.
Initiates and prepares analyses and briefings related to budget execution processes; and
Reviews data and creates reports.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications GS-14:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service independently performing all phases of the budget process including all of the following:
Developing and preparing future year proposals for budget formulation.
Monitoring budgeting by tracking execution, reporting budget status, and ensuring funds control.
Using financial applications or systems for assembling, analyzing, and presenting budget and program information in reports, briefings and documents.
Analyzing financial processes and proposing improvements.

Merit Promotion candidates (Federal employees) must meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
