About the position: This position will be assigned to the - Little Rock AFB, AR -Child Development Center.
This position is guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours but can be scheduled to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Physical Effort: Light to moderate physical effort in lifting up to 45 pounds or pushing carts. Constantly standing and walking.
Duties
1. Boils, bakes, fries, and broils meats, fish, and poultry by watching while the items are cooking; turning as required; regulating temperature; and removing when done. Adjust standardized recipes for large quantity cooking. Maintains proper temperature for all foods during: holding, transport, reheating, and serving to assure control food safety. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment. Assists in training guidelines on new policy and procedures. Responsible for meal preparations/serving of all meals and snacks in specified quantities to meet Air Force requirements related to Air Force Child Care Food Programs.
2. Prepares an Air Force Form 287 for the Director's review and approval for purchasing food. Purchasing supplies weekly. Assists in preparing USDA forms CCFP-6, food counts. Submits report to Child and Development Center Director for review.
3. Attends all training sessions and staff meetings as required.
4. Responsible for general food sanitation of the kitchen. Maintains cleanliness throughout the kitchen/dining room areas during tour of duty.
5. Follows posted menu. Informs Child Development Center Director of any changes necessary to menu so new information can be recorded. Provides food as required to other staff members for field trips and cooking experiences for the children in the center. Uses cycle menus approved by the base dietitian. Performs other duties as assigned.

- This position requires the applicant to be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
- This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.
- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:Must have adequate experience in preparing and serving nutritional foods for young children. Must have basic knowledge of food preparation principles and practical understanding of physical changes that occur during the processing and cooking of food. Must have ability to follow instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Must be able to follow USDA requirements. Must be willing to go through training required by the service regulation. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. Must have practical knowledge of methods and procedures necessary for ordering, issuing, and storing food items in accordance with inventory and sanitation requirements. Must be 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have the ability to speak, read and write English. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance. Must be able to obtain Food Handler's card and satisfactorily complete all pre-employment and investigative requirements.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
