This position is located in the Fitness, Sports and Aquatics Division, Morale Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Station Mayport, Florida.

Requirements

• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
• Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, without a fixed schedule. When outdoors sun and eye irritation exposure may occur.
• Irregular working hours may be required to include early shift, late shift, evenings, weekends and holidays when the need arises.
• Wearing of protective clothing and equipment may be required as situations warrant.
• May be required to lift and carry swimmers varying in weight and size.
• Must be ready to respond to emergency situations at all times.

Qualifications

Incumbent must be knowledgeable of advanced lifesaving techniques and hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate or other nationally or internationally recognized lifeguard certification. Completion of U.S. Navy Rescue Swimmer School or U.S. Navy Basic Underwater Dive School is also acceptable. Must possess current CPR for Professional Rescuer and First Aid certificate cards. Within 2 weeks of employment the incumbent must be able to complete 500 meter swim within 13 minutes and run 1 mile within 8 minutes. Incumbent must have a pleasing personality and be able to meet the public and diplomatically enforce pool regulations.
