About the Position: The position is with the Los Angeles Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), CA. The mission of the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM), and the MEPS, is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.

Duties

Cross-trains in other MEPS functions and fulfills these functions on a short or long-term basis as required. Incumbent arranges transportation for all enlistees from the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) to the designated Reception/Training Center. Assists recruits experiencing unexpected delays, cancellation of flights, hospitalization, absence, or refusal to fly and resolves problems (with unexpected delays). Ensures that all ground transportation utilized for the movement of recruits is government/Department of Defense approved via the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO). Prepares, amends, and revokes transportation orders for all enlistees assigned to all Services. Ensures applicant records and shipping packets are complete before the applicant departs the MEPS. Responsible for accountable items and meal check inventory. Arranges meals, lodging and onward transportation for enlistees. Provides monthly, and as required, Passenger Standing Route Orders Diversion Reports to USMEPCOM. Monitors airport delays, airport closures, and bus routes that may possibly be impacted by weather, utilizing media and internet websites. Expected to independently plan and carry assignments in accordance with accepted agency and in-house practices, regulation and procedures related to each phase of transportation for enlistees. Performs reconciliation of Centrally Billed Accounts (CBAs), using accepted practices to resolve problems and deviations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing and following transportation-related regulations, creating transportation and lodging orders, monitoring airport and/or bus delays, adjusting travel arrangements as needed to assist travelers, managing the travel card program and providing training on the use of travel cards accounts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as in Business Administration, Public Administration, or in a related Administrative Science or Administrative Studies field. Graduate level for this position is a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
