About the Position:
This position is being recruited for at the Department of Education Activity, Americas Southeast District Facilities Custodial Branch, at Fort Moore, Georgia.
Duties
Disinfect restrooms to include urinals, toilet bowls, and sinks.
Dust, wax, and/or polish furniture and fixtures. Buff and wax floors.
Empty waste baskets.
Provide updates to supervisor status and progress of work.
Set up and tear down for special events or assemblies.
Adjust and/or perform minor maintenance to attachments on power equipment.
Ensure that needed materials and tools are available on site for workers to complete daily duties.
Open and close school following all security procedures.
Demonstrate proper work methods.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Position has heavy lifting requirement of weight up to 50lbs.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker without more than normal supervision. Performing a full range of general Janitorial duties at a facility that include sweeping, mopping, or waxing floors; and cleaning restrooms. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial type buffers). Occasionally exerts moderately heavy physical effort such as that required in lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, requiring continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Requires working on ladders/scaffold in the performance of some duties.
Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolds or when using heavy powered equipment.
