You will serve as a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM MECHANIC in the Maintenance Branch of the Fuels Department, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center, Puget Sound. The duty station is Manchester, WA

Duties

You will maintain and repair fuel storage and distribution systems You will inspect fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities You will inspect electrical wiring, switches, and controls You will overhaul fuel distribution systems and components You will operate and maintain various types of pumps and other equipment used in the receipt and issue of bulk petroleum products

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim/final secret level security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You may be required to lift over 45 lbs.
  • You may be required to perform repairs and installations from elevated platforms such as ladders or scaffolding
  • You may be required to enter bulk storage tanks through manways and valve pits via ladders.
  • You may be required to access barge tanks through narrow spaces.
  • You may be required to travel up to 25%
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You may may be coded as “key” and as such may be required be removed from your military recall status.
  • You must obtain and maintain a government license/certification for all assigned equipment
  • You will be required to work outdoors in a wide variety of weather conditions, including inclement weather

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to perform the work of a WG-4255-10 Fuel Distribution Systems Mechanic including experience, working under normal supervision, utilizing the knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical principles and a working knowledge of electrical controls and devices to repair and maintain fuel distribution systems and their components to perform work which includes inspecting fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges; Inspecting electrical wiring, switches, and controls; lubricating and repacking valves; Lubricating pumps; Replacing gaskets and seals; Replacing meters and gauges; Reading and working from blueprints; Maintaining records of inspections and repairs.
