Duties

You will be performing work involving the application and development of new and improved cybersecurity concepts, principles, and techniques that will advance the body of knowledge in cybersecurity. You will be developing the processes necessary to independently plan, organize, and conduct complex requirements analysis for C4ISR systems to include conducting security reviews on software used in C4ISR systems. You will assist in development, testing, engineering and managing enterprise level computer resources for DoD and Federal customers, perform software life cycle management to support NGA's mission and develop software documentation and test plans. You will be translating technical specifications into programming specifications; develop, customize, or acquire applications software programs; design, integrate and test software automation. You will analyze and refine systems requirements; translating systems requirements into applications prototypes; writing, debugging, and maintaining code; designing user interfaces; working with customers to test applications. You will apply engineering principles, methods and techniques of software and security engineering utilizing in-depth knowledge of computer theory, algorithms, data structures and programming concepts.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 Intermediate level within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or ND-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Work with a team of engineers/developers in assignments involving the entire development process which may also involve research, production, and an operational effort by applying engineering principles, methods and techniques of software and security engineering utilizing in-depth knowledge of computer theory, algorithms, data structures, programming concepts, CI/CD and Agile development best-practices. Education

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science OR a bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science OR at least 15 of my 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
