About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill a project management assistant position located in the Project Management Division, Civil Works Branch Section. An ideal candidate will have strong experience in customer service and attention to details and possess knowledge of utilizing automated financial systems.

Duties

This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-05 and GS-06 grade level. At the full performance, GS-07, the incumbent will: Attends various programmatic meetings and conferences aimed at developing or discussing technical aspects of the program and the associated scope. Utilizes the Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS) to process a variety of transactions. Coordinates routine and complex travel arrangements including remote locations. Utilizes word processing and other types of software to process and produce a wide range of documents, some of which require complex formats.

Specialized Experience GS-5: One year of specialized experience which includes supporting staff members with updating information systems and databases, scheduling meetings, and using office automation systems to prepare reports and correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-6: One year of specialized experience which includes supporting staff members with updating information systems and databases, and/or compiling and entering data, scheduling meetings, and using office automation systems to prepare reports and correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-7: One year of specialized experience which includes supporting staff members with updating information systems and databases, scheduling meetings, compiling, entering and analyzing data; and using office automation systems to prepare reports and correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement GS-7: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Education
