This position is located within the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Northeast Area (NEA), at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, in Beltsville, MD.
In this position, you will be responsible for the leadership in planning, directing, coordinating, maintaining, implementing and managing of all phases facilities management through the four facilities units.
Duties
Lead in the planning, directing, coordinating, and implementing of all phases of facilities management across multi-disciplinary unit for a large, multi-building campus.
Provide expertise and technical knowledge in the supervision of team managers who oversee multi-trade facility and infrastructure teams.
Establish strategic short and long-term facility (building and infrastructure) planning and manage annual operating budget according to the priorities of the Agency.
Maintain centralized facility data and conduct goal-related program reviews to evaluate effectiveness of facility management.
Ensure personal property and real property adhere to applicable standards for acquisition and utilization.
Communicate or discuss general or policy related information with Agency leadership, Local, State or other Federal staff and customers with federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
Ensure campus facilities are in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
Requirements

- Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.

GS-15
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-15 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-14 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience supervising a team of employees; developing or implementing the operational budget for a project; managing daily operations of property management; and obtaining necessary approvals or permits for a renovation or construction project.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
