ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area -Nursing Administrative Services, Colorado River Service Unit, Parker Indian Health Center. Position is located in Parker Arizona. Position is supervised by the Supervisory Nurse ( Deputy ).
Duties
Major Duties:
Provide direction, leadership, guidance, professionalism, supervision and performance evaluations for the Inpatient nursing department ( nurse's, licensed practical nurse's, nursing assistants and medical support assistant's).
Responsible for provision of Nursing Care on the unit, including compliance with standards of care, patient safety, and compliance with other applicable standards.
Planning work for the unit; including work schedules, adjusting work schedules as need to meet patient care needs. Evaluates daily operations and services provided to assure efficient use of resources is met; Including patient flow, work flow and productivity for the department.
Conducts monthly meetings with the unit staff , assuring communication for hospital related initiatives are met and ensures that required trainings are completed for department.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education:
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure:
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -GS-0610-12:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assess, plan, implement, direct and evaluate the care of patients in a hospital and ambulatory care facility setting; Prepare work performance plan, coordinate patient care with discharge process, referrals out of hospital and medical/surgical nursing care.
