The Motor Vehicle Operator is assigned to the Transportation Section of Facilities Management Service (FMS), at the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) at three locations (Gainesville, Lake City and Jacksonville).
Incumbent must possess a State Operator's Permit Class B or Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement and with NO air brake restrictions. Licensing information must be clearly stated on your resume.
Duties
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT until February 5th, 2024. Eligible applicants will be considered and referred every 2 weeks.
Major Duties Include (but not limited to):
Maintains vehicle in satisfactory mechanical condition.
Maintains a log of trip activities.
Obeys traffic laws and vehicle safety regulations.
Operates buses, delivery trucks, or transport vehicles.
Operates various motor vehicles for passenger or cargo transport
Possesses skills to appropriately deal with public, patients, and employees daily.
Interprets instructions related to vehicle operations, maintenance, and delivery schedules.
Work Schedule: Schedule Varies: 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm (schedules will be discussed further during interview).

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: As a Motor Vehicle Operator, the incumbent must use sound judgment; maintain mental and physical poise. Incumbent must handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance. Incumbent may assist on an infrequent basis, medical personnel or staff in the transfer of litter patients to and from beds and litters, and the loading and unloading of patients to and from litter vans. Tasks often require physical exertion such as walking, turning, stooping, bending, etc.
