The incumbent plans, directs and supervises the work of Air Conditioning Equipment Operators, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanics and an Maintenance Workers engaged in the operation, maintenance and repair of central air conditioning systems, package air conditioning units, window air conditioning units, ventilating systems, walk-in freezers, walk-in refrigerators, ultra low temperature freezers, ice making machines, domestic refrigerators and chilled drinking water systems on station.
Duties
Applicant must have Universal EPA certification & must upload a copy of their certificate and or card.*Incumbent will be required to serve a Supervisory Probationary Period of 52 weeks, if they haven't already successfully completed a 52 week Supervisory Probationary Period with VA.
**Must have a valid state drivers license or be able to obtain one within 60 days of hire**
The incumbent motivates subordinates to operate as an effective working unit.
Select individual workers and assigns the particular work or tasks to be performed.
Promotes the participation of subordinates in management programs such as beneficial suggestions, quality assurance and cost reduction.
Establish written performance standards for subordinates and make formal appraisals of their work performances.
The incumbent plans weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
Establishes deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules, methods, and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
Determine how many assignments can be done concurrently or which must be delayed on the basis of personal availability and skill levels as well as the availability of required equipment and materials.
Determines the number and type of employees needed to accomplish the work.
Provides technical input to higher level supervision and to the planning/project section required in the preparation of studies, plans and/or projects regarding environmental control system on the station.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 700am to 330pm

Physical Requirements: Frequently required to perform duties which involve bending, stretching, reaching, kneeling and lifting of heavy objects. Must be able to work for prolonged periods in cramped spaces and must be able to regularly climb ladders, climb stairs, walk long distances and stand in a stationary position.
Working Conditions: Incumbent must be able to work for prolonged periods of time outdoors in extremely hot/cold and/or inclement weather. Frequently exposed to dangerous/toxic chemicals, vapors, fumes and gases.
