This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD0825000 and is part of the TN 164th AW, Air National Guard.
This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 115 (Pyramid on the River Chapter).
Duties
As an AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, WG-4818-09 (TITLE 32) you will, Inspect, tests, certify, repair, assemble and maintain aircrew life support and chemical defense equipment to include aircraft/aircrew electronic communications equipment, and aircraft-oxygen related items.
Instruct crewmembers in aircrew chemical defense and decontamination procedures, shelter management and the Aircrew Eye Respiratory Protection System (AERPS) which is an aircraft-integrated, self-contained oxygen and filtration system with aircraft-integrated electronics, communications and oxygen capabilities. Certify initial and continuation training of aircrew and other personnel. Compile with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Supervise, instruct, train and certify traditional Guard members on all facets of the aircrew life support career field; performs task evaluations and documents OJT records. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

Qualifications
Military Grades: E-1 through E-6
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential.
