Duties

You will install and repair electrical systems in any station facility or station support facility. You will be required to perform limited assignments in the installation or repair of complex industrial electrical systems. You will locate broke, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring, fixtures, controls, and equipment through visual check or through use of a small variety of test equipment. You will complete needed repairs to installed systems, and rearranges and hooks up items such as outlets, switches, light fixtures, regulators, and circuit breakers. You will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You must maintain on-base driving privileges and any installation and/or DOD license required for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • The employee will be required to furnish normal tools of the electrical trade.
  • Incumbent will also be subject to call back for work during off-duty hours when an emergency arises to include weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
  • During destructive weather conditions such as, but not limited to, ice and snowstorms, high winds, and hurricanes, incumbent may be required to report for duty.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to do the work of the position with limited to normal supervision, Removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering, and insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment and fixtures such as broken and bare wiring, burned out switches and relays, loose connections and fittings, and damaged light figures, and poorly operating thermostats.
