You will serve as a GENERAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the Mechanical Division of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will install, repair, rehabilitate, or recondition production machinery, production equipment, weld systems, CNC machines, and other equipment. You will perform the more simple and routine tasks of the trades such as analyzing machine failures; inspecting, checking, outlining, and performing required repairs identified by higher grade mechanics. You will disassemble machines and components, examination and measuring of all moving and bearing parts, re-machining, or replacement of the examined parts and the reassembly of the machine within prescribed tolerance allowances. You will troubleshoot, repair, align, and test equipment for proper operation. You will analyze machine failures, inspects, checks, outlines, and performs required repairs. You will interpret and understand guides such as handbooks, blueprints, specifications, operator's instructions, and maintenance manuals. You will interpret multi view sketches, electrical and electronic diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, manufacturers’ specifications for malfunctions in hydraulic pumps and motors, mechanical clamping devices, and electrical or hydraulic axis drive systems. You will make accurate and precise repairs, adjustments, and alignments required to rework gear train assemblies, anti-backlash devices and axis drivers.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to stand, stoop, crouch, and kneel, to push, pull, lift, and manipulate tools, wiring, equipment and parts.
