Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Little Rock, Arkansas is a highly active, Medical College affiliated VA Medical Center of 569 bed located at two different campuses each with physical plants six miles apart and occupying a total of 107 buildings with 2,256,323 square feet gross area of floor space and 211 acres of land with approximately 2800 pieces of equipment. The Medical Center also has eight different Community Based Outpatient Clinics located across the state.

Duties

Duties Responsible for repair, maintenance, modification, and operation of various special-purpose air condition units and systems. Work involves inspection, preventative maintenance, overhaul, and repair. Will be working unsupervised a majority of the time and must be able to make sound, appropriate decisions and to assume work responsibility without supervision. Coordinates outages and projects, equipment repair and service with other maintenance shops and planning and design within the Engineering Service. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 07:00a-3:30p, subject to change based on the needs of the agency. Position Description Title/PD#: Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic/PD04295A Physical Requirements: Frequently carries and sets up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing and installing units such as large compressors, condensers, and chiller components. Makes repair and installations frequently in hard-to-reach places; therefore, stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling are frequent for long periods of time. Heavy lifting 45 pounds or over, heavy carrying 45 pounds or over, straight pulling 5 hours, pushing 5 hours, reaching above shoulder, repeated bending 1 hour, climbing legs only 2 hours, climbing using both legs and arms, both legs required, operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, ability to distinguish basic colors, ability to distinguish shades of colors, hear (aid may be permitted).
