This position is located in the Agricultural Research Service, Field Organization, US Meat Animal Research Center, Clay Center, Nebraska.
In this position, you will provide a wide range of technical, administrative support functions according to procedural and regulatory requirements to Research Scientists and the Administrative Officer.
Duties
Provide administrative support work in the planning of coordinating research projects, travel documentation, budget coordination, tracking agreements, purchasing and procurement of supplies and equipment, and human resources administration.
Participate in the budget process by assisting with reconciliation of accounts, tracking and providing information on awards and travel spending caps, and reviewing for consistency, accuracy, and procedural and reporting requirements.
Provide assistance for employee orientation, including issuing identification cards, training sessions, and providing help and resources for the onboarding of new employees with documentation, training, orientation, and local safety information.
Enter data into appropriate information systems, as required, for the Location as a whole.
Review and manage files and records for the Office of Location Support and stablishes procedures for new files and records management systems in order to maximize effectiveness.
Provide information on policies, procedures, and regulations as related to mandatory training for Center staff.
Provide required information to Center accountable officers relevant to vehicle use and maintenance and communicates reporting deadlines to ensure all records are up-to-date and all reporting requirements are met by deadline.
Prepare human resources reports.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade.
GS-06
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience providing administrative and clerical support to a team; reviewing correspondence for accuracy; and maintaining detailed records or files for an office environment.
GS-07
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience serving as an administrative office primary point of contact; reviewing financial documents for accuracy; maintaining detailed records or files for an office environment; and participating in program planning support work including project coordination, travel, or procurement of supplies and equipment.
