Duties

You will ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, policies, and permits (i.e., Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems permits). You will conduct site inspections for current and planned operations. You will support base commands, tenants, and the Metro Production Department (MPD) to meet permit requirements by providing trainings on regulatory requirements and best management practices on implementation of water quality regulations. You will compile permit driven reports and submit to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. You will complete environmental data calls from internal commands and external organizations.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying innovative theories and state of the art methods to solve problems for environmental media; 2) Applying expert knowledge of various environmental laws, regulations, and standards in order to support customer, program, and regulatory requirements; and 3) Delivering products and services for various environmental media (i.e. storm water, wastewater, potable water). Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Applicants must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
