You will serve as a RUBBER WORKER in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. The Rubber Worker performs one or more specified operations as well as a variety of general operations in the repair and manufacture of rubber, plastic and fiberglass aircraft structures.

Duties

You will dissemble, modify and manufacture bulk rubber which meets desired characteristics by measuring and compounding natural and synthetic rubber, pigments and other materials of aircraft. You will layout work following blueprints, sketches, engineering directive and other technical instructions, develop patterns, templates and make complicated cutting layouts. You will comply with instructions for weighing and mixing ingredients to manufacture rubber. You will determine the materials and equipment needed to complete rubber work assignments.

  • Incumbent may be required to lift unassisted up to forty pounds. Must be able to stoop, bend, crouch, walk and work in tiring or uncomfortable positions.
  • Incumbent may be required to work on stands or platforms above ground level. Must be able to work in, on and around aircraft. Work requires normal or corrective vision.
  • Incumbent may be exposed to the hazards of working around and with moving machinery including aircraft being ground tested. Is exposed to hazards of toxicity encountered in working with adhesives, solvents and thinners.
  • Protective clothing and equipment must be work in areas where ear, eye, foot or other hazards exists.

Have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including 1) Following blueprints, sketches, engineering devices and other technical instructions; 2) Dissembling, modifying, and manufacturing bulk rubber which meets desired characteristics by measuring and compounding natural and synthetic rubber, pigments and other materials of aircraft such as wing panels, tail sections, components fiberglass by reforming, patching or replacing parts; 3) Measuring, weighing and mixing a variety of adhesives, epoxy, accelerators and bonding agents; 4) Manufacturing molded or extruded parts using equipment such as extruders, presses and injection machines; 5) Measuring and testing rubber products with calipers, micrometers and shore durometers. B. Have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including 1) Following blueprints, sketches and other technical instructions; 2) Dissembling, modifying, and manufacturing bulk rubber which meets desired characteristics by measuring and compounding natural and synthetic rubber, pigments and other materials of aircraft such as wing panels, tail sections, components fiberglass by reforming, patching or replacing parts; 3) Measuring, weighing and mixing a variety of adhesives, epoxy, accelerators and bonding agents; 4) Measuring and testing rubber products with calipers, micrometers and shore durometers. C. Have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Following blueprints, sketches and other technical instructions; 2) Dissembling, modifying, and manufacturing bulk rubber which meets desired characteristics by measuring and compounding natural and synthetic rubber, pigments and other materials of aircraft such as wing panels, tail sections, components fiberglass by reforming, patching or replacing parts; 3) Measuring, weighing and mixing a variety of adhesives, epoxy, accelerators and bonding agents.
