This position is located in USCIS Field Operations Directorate, Office of Field Operations, District 44, Santa Ana CA Field Office. As a Supervisory Immigration Services Assistant (SISA), you will provide technical and administrative support to subordinate staff to ensure compliance with USCIS procedures, policies and regulations.

Duties

Provide technical and administrative support to subordinate state, which requires coordination and integration of work efforts. Plan and prioritize work; assign, monitor, and take action as appropriate, relating to the capability, qualifications and progress of the individuals. Monitor work in progress; track statistical data; and prepare statistical and narrative reports. Ensure staff acceptance and compliance with USCIS procedures, policies, and regulations. Prepare and issue written instructions and procedures on established policies, special programs, an complex and non-routine assignments. Review, accept, amend, or reject completed work and appraise performance. Counsel and encourage employees to progress within their job classifications and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary. Make selection recommendations of employees for the unit. Perform more difficult and complex phases of applications processing work including expedition handling of special cases and maintain technical computer skills in database entries.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/12/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/12/2024. GS-09: This is a one-graded interval series position. In a one-grade interval series, experience at the second lower grade level may be credited when there is no position in the normal line of progression that is one grade lower than the position being filled. An applicant can qualify with at least one year at either the next lower level or the second lower level. To qualify for the GS-09 you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the second lower level, GS-07 in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and is equivalent to the GS-08 level. (One year of specialized experience at the second lower level is creditable for in service applicants only; for outside applications, one year of specialized at the next lower grade level of GS-08 is required), which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Applying laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures. Providing technical or administrative support to agency or program operations. Drafting Standard Operating Procedures or other guidance or mentoring and/or training team members.
