This position is a senior technical consultant in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). Incumbent reports to the Technical Operations, Technical Services Organization, Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Support Operations Group (EOSG), EOSH Program Support Center.
Duties
Develops, implements and manages programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses by researching complex mishap data. Recommends and develops OSH design changes to engineers and managers to ensure compliance with FAA, federal, and state regulations. Oversees multi-disciplinary teams that investigate employee hazards and develops cost effective solutions and projects to mitigate them.

- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the FV-J level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13.Specialized experience is experience in or related to safety and occupational health that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience: Developing technical written policy/guidance documents for occupational safety and health programs; performing job hazard analysis and recommending controls (including specific types of PPE); conducting fall protection assessments and hazard analysis and developing/designing compliant solutions; establishing, implementing and managing at least three of the following OSH programs: Construction Safety, Motor Vehicle Safety, Hazard Communication, Fall Protection, Asbestos; Lead; Welding, Cutting, and Brazing; Job Hazard Analysis; and Accident Investigation.Applicants MUST include examples of specialized experience in their work history and be specific when describing specialized experience.Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.As a part of the Federal-Wide Hiring Reform Initiative (streamlining the hiring process), the FAA is committed to eliminating the use of the Knowledge, Skills and Ability (KSA) narratives from the initial application in the hiring process for all announcements.
