Duties
Responsible for performing physical therapy evaluations, formulating objective treatment plans, and providing treatments for patients (inmates) referred by other medical staff. Plans, implements and administers treatments utilizing various accepted techniques which include, but are not limited to: therapeutic exercise; manual therapy; functional training; prescription, application, and/or fabrication of devices and equipment; integumentary repair and protection; and electrotherapeutic, physical, and mechanical modalities. Documents all aspects of patient management utilizing the electronic health record according to established policy and licensure requirements. Makes recommendations on matters of policy, procedures, training, personnel, and equipment, which may include developing written policies and procedures that reflect the objectives and operation of physical therapy services, as well as providing input for multidisciplinary programs with physical therapy involvement. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements: A graduate or higher level degree that included:
A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained;
AND
Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.
AND Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) NOTE: ALL applicants MUST electronically upload proof of current, active and unrestricted license for verification at the time you apply. AND Education: Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Knowledge of current, evidence-based theories, principles, practices, and procedures applied in providing a diverse range of physical therapy.
Knowledge of the techniques and instrumentation used to collect, organize record and communicate clinical findings relevant to patient examinations, evaluations, diagnosis, prognosis, and outcomes of treatment interventions.
Experience in performing diagnostic tests and measurements, interpreting results, planning, implementing and administering treatments utilizing various accepted modalities including therapeutic exercise, massage, and physical agents.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
