THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a RANGE TRAINING OFFICER - Title 5, Position Description Number T5764000 and is part of the WI CRTC, Wisconsin Air National Guard.

Duties

CRTC Exercise Planning. Plans, organizes, develops, coordinates, integrates, directs, and evaluates actual and simulated exercises which normally involve flying organizations and other military units inside and outside the CRTC Regional Area. Coordinates with National Guard Bureau (NGB), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies such as Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, in addition to National Guard organizations of other states, and officials of similar types of units from foreign nations. Ensures exercises are conducted in accordance with current regulatory guidance to include compliance with published timelines (exercise notification, meetings, etc.). Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies applicable and current directives and policies. Represents the CRTC with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Serves as the technical advisor to CRTC staff on future air combat crew training requirements, and procedures. ** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. ***

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; Plan and organize work. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-0301-12 level, applicant must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training involving the application of air-to-air and air-to-ground training involving fighter, bomber, cargo, and tanker units from all branches of the military. Experience in Air Force and ANG policy for a wide range of airspace, air operations, and airspace management programs that are responsive to changes in mission and business practices. Knowledge and expertise in airspace management within the National Airspace System (NAS) and awareness of issues that affect ANG flight training and operations. Ability to interpret and manipulate multiple data sources derived from Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation hardware and software. Knowledge of ANG and Joint service combat coded aircraft, employment doctrine, and their combat applications. Knowledge of enemy air-to-air/surface-to-air capabilities and applications during combat flight training operations. Ability to advise CRTC commander and exercise staff on the conduct of flight training in accordance with regulatory guidance and exercise objectives. Skilled in writing and briefing, as well as computer skills (Microsoft Office programs such as Power Point, Excel, and Microsoft Word).
