This position is located with the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) of the George E. Wahlen VAMC. The position processes orders for the prescription of prosthetics, sensory aids and durable medical equipment and/or services while performing customer services in addition to clerical and administrative duties to accomplish VA's mission to serve Veterans and their families.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Answers phones and directs callers to appropriate staff. Takes messages off voicemail and returns phone calls within 24 hours.
Receives, opens, reviews, and distributes all incoming mail. Mails out equipment and correspondence. Delivers misdirected mail received in Prosthetics for other services.
Perform timekeeper duties as needed in the absence of primary and secondary timekeepers.
Provides medical equipment. Documents transaction in patient medical record.
Generate a variety of reports and correspondence as directed.
Ensures privacy laws are not violated with transmittal of sensitive information.
Provides patient care/support to an adult population. Within the broad categories, the incumbent must tailor the patient care/support services to meet the specialized need(s) of the individual patient.
Displays a positive image. Interacts warmly with all stakeholders, clinicians, veterans, family members, and vendors.
Be highly motivated to seek ways to expedite patient processing, accomplish the VA mission and adapt to the ever-changing world of health care.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion. There may be recurring lifting and moving of moderately heavy or bulky items such as wheelchairs or other durable medical equipment. Repetitive bending over and twisting will be required. Most work will be completed sitting in an office chair at a workstation.

Qualifications
