THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 ALLIED TRADES WORKER (MI CSMS), Position Description Number D1220000 and is part of the MI CSMS, Michigan Army National Guard.
Duties
***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP***
This position is located in a Joint Forces Headquarters - State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to assist higher graded workers in performing work in the skilled trades' occupations in support of maintenance functions. Engages in joint operations with higher graded workers. Rotates through trades areas to gain experience.
1. Performs complicated skilled trades tasks in any Allied Trades Shops.
2. Repairs mobile equipment metal body components such as fenders, panels, hooks, truck beds.
3. Paints a wide variety of vehicles using standards methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to directions, and by the application of coating techniques that assure surface is fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs.
4. Modifies, repairs and makes canvas parts such as truck tarpaulin, machinery and equipment covers.
5. Constructs and repairs boxes, pallets, wood bracing to be sued in shipping and storage.
6. Operates various machine tools performing work involved in various simple fabrications as instructed by a higher-grade machinist who will lay out the work required and give specific instructions in the performance of the work required.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Army National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the Michigan Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Army National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

- Must have a valid civilian driver's license.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Months Required: 12
Experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment, and systems
