Incumbent Serves as a mechanic in the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) section within the Engineering Services, at the Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion Illinois. In addition to the hospital itself, support services are provided to Evansville Health Care Center (EHCC) and Community Based Outpatient Center (CBOC's) as well as Veterans Centers
Duties
Incumbent is responsible for journeyman level repair and maintenance of all facilities gas, diesel, and electrical powered vehicles and engine powered equipment works from written, electronic and verbal communications as assigned.
Duties And Responsibilities:
performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all equipment as assigned.
tears down, adjust repairs, reassembles and runs operational checks on components of transportation systems by following the instructions described in tech manuals and other industry resources
repairs, services, cleans, refinishes, paints, and fabricates parts as needed for repairs
Troubleshooting, repairing and or overhauling major components and systems of transportation equipment such as engines, transmissions, differentials, and transaxels.
develops plans and layouts to perform electric arc and/or acetylene gas welding necessary to fabricate, repair, install, or modify equipment, brackets, automotive parts, grounds and construction equipment parts and attachments.
maintain and repair of snow removal equipment, spreaders, sprayers and plows
Incumbent is also involved in using general and some specialized tools and equipment of various building trades.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent must have the ability to climb over , under, in and around various obstructions found in a medical facility such as pipes, hangers, equipment, ductwork, conduits and cables. incumbent must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds as well as push and pull loads, climb ladders to thirty (30) pounds and endure prolonged periods of walking, crouching, sitting and standing.
