About the Position: The Electronics Technician (Biomedical) position is located in the Biomedical Engineering Division, Materials Management Department of the Naval Health Clinic New England, RI. The purpose of this position is to evaluate, develop, maintain, diagnose, calibrate, test and repair biomedical and dental equipment used at NHCNE in the treatment of patients, diagnosis of pathological conditions, and in biomedical research. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Familiar with electronic theory and medical procedures. Require an in-depth understanding and ability to diagnose problems with the quality of images. Troubleshoot and repair medical and dental equipment, medical and dental equipment systems, and devices to include standalone equipment. Complete assigned preventive maintenance and other scheduled services. Development preventive maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Serve as a technical advisor in the purchase of new medical equipment.

• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing maintenance of medical electronic equipment/systems to assure operational integrity and safety according to manufacturer's specifications on instrumentation and medical equipment; troubleshooting systems to determine the nature of extent of repairs required; and provide assistance with-in service training, set-up and/or calibration of patient care equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
