You will serve as an Interdisciplinary Engineer in the 21000 Production Line Support Division of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will contribute to a team executing engineering projects. You will develop others through coaching or mentoring and recognize achievements of division personnel. You will correspond regularly with all levels of management to advise on needed project changes. You will brief senior leadership on the progress achieved toward meeting strategic objectives. You will evaluate the cost, schedule, and performance requirements associated with model aircraft to ensure ingenuity.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Provide technical and professional engineering direction to industrial production; 2) Ensure all production operations requiring engineering and logistics services are fully supported by experts; provide advice on problem solving expertise; 3) Provide technical and engineering dispositions; 4) Update scheduled and unscheduled maintenance publications; 5) Develop standards and procedures for production engineering support to ensure timely response. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Direct the development of lower grade engineers; 2) Provide guidance to various contractor support personnel; 3) Identify to the MRO Engineering Branch Heads all requirements for production support services; 4) Develop standards and procedures for production engineering support to ensure timely response; 5) Provide guidance and expert consultation; 6) Monitor production support workload distribution; 7) Coordinate engineering requirements for contractor support services. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
