This position is located in the Resource Management Division at Flight 93 National Memorial. This is a temporary position NTE 1039 hours. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Flight 93 National Memorial is April 2024, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Duties

As a Biological Science Technician GS-0404-07 with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to: The duties of this position will be shared between Flight 93 National Memorial (FLNI) and Johnstown Flood National Memorial (JOFL). The selectee will develop and implement an ecological restoration, monitoring, and adaptive management plan for the JOFL lakebed to establish the old field characteristic identified by the 2022 Cultural Landscape Report treatment recommendations. Lead the maintenance and care of the Memorial Groves. Observe and record the field conditions of trees within the landscape. Recommend management actions to correct deficiencies to promote tree health. Collect and organize field data using GIS, standardized data collection procedures and equipment to establish vegetation trends over time. Record all data collected and provide preliminary analysis and classification of the information. Make field observation of natural resource conditions. Inventory equipment, evaluate quality assurance compliance, and calibrate equipment as necessary. Install, operate and maintain resource management equipment.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/12/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. In order to qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level performing duties such as: Researching and compiling botany inventory data; leading or conducting field inventories or studies of botany species and invasive plants; researching and conservation of wildlife; forest rehabilitation, reforesting, propagation, and planting; mapping, simple data analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related equipment. OR One full year of graduate study that is directly related to the work of the position (such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture). OR A combination of education and experience. PLEASE NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts, or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies each course, college or university, semester or quarter hour earned, grade received, and date completed. To qualify based on education, you must possess one full year of graduate study that is directly related to the work of the position (such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture).
