The Industrial Equipment Mechanic is assigned to the Maintenance and Repair Section in Engineering Service. The incumbent reports to the Maintenance and Repair Foreman Supervisor for Facilities Management section for Central Texas Health Care System, located in Temple, TX. The incumbent perform a variety of complex journeyman level maintenance and repairs of all types of property and equipment.
Duties
Repairs Complex Industrial Equipment, Machinery, and Systems
Disassemble and repair complex industrial equipment, machinery and systems
Troubleshoot, analyze and diagnose mechanical defects operational malfunctions of complex equipment
Perform operational and functional tests to ensure minimal downtime of equipment and make required adjustments
Review work order requirements reflecting systems, parts, and assemblies to be repaired, modified, or installed
Operate equipment in a safe manner, and apply established practices to minimize minor/major violations
Fabricates and/or Repairs Machine Parts
Use acetylene torch to heat metals, anvil, and hand tools for shaping and forming
Repair Engineering Service operating and construction equipment
Perform preventive maintenance and repair work on recreational equipment
Dismantle machines and/or components, cleans and inspects all parts
Identifies parts and materials needed and makes lists to obtain parts from stock or for ordering purposes
Installs and Maintains Multiple Diverse Systems
Perform a variety of tasks involved in the installation and maintenance of one or more systems and related equipment typically found at a hospital/health care installation
Use of a variety of trade practices associated with utility systems operation and maintenance, welding, sheetmetal/industrial equipment maintenance, and other related trades and crafts
Green Environmental Management Systems (GEMS)
Assist with activities that impact VA's goal to implement sound stewardship practices that are protective of the air, water, land, and other natural and cultural resources.
In accordance with the goals of the VA GEMS program, seeks to cost-effectively meet or exceed compliance with applicable Federal, state and local environmental public health and resource protection laws, regulations, and VA requirements.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
